Habitat
Hippopotamus live in area which has lot of water and grass. As they need water keep there skin cold and moist. They only keep there eyes ears and nostrils above the water so they can hear , see and breath while being in water with most of there body in under water.
Behaviours
Hippopotamus are very aggressive animal. They are found in the group of 10 to 200 members including male and female these animals stay in water for most of there day and go out at night to eat grass they have large teeth which is used by them to fight off there threats including human.
Diet
Hippopotamus can eat 150 pounds of food per day which include grass , leaves , fruits , root , etc. They spent 5 to 6 hours searching for there food and may also walk up to five miles during that period of time.
How does Hippopotamus got its name ?
The name Hippopotamus comes from a Greek word meaning water horse.
How to survive attack of hippopotamus ?
• If he is yawning and you are near then run as it is a sign that you are too close.
• If you are in water go and opposite direction of hippo.
• If hipo is running in your direction on land then run as fast as you can and avoid running in straight line always run in zig-zag direction and find opticals or try to climb high hill or tree.
•If your hand is in hippos mouth then punch its eyes. (As eye is sensitive organ of most of animals and they will let you go) or try to reach back of hippos throat and grab the what ever part try to make hippo as uncomfortable as you can.

• Hippopotamus can hold its breath underwater for 30 minutes.
• Their sweat acts as an sunscreen and antibiotic.
• They can open their mouth up to 4 feets.
• When hippos sleep, they prefer to shallow water area as they lay flat on their belly while sleeping.
• A full grown hippo does not have many natural predators.
• They don't have sweat glands and instead secrete a thick red substance called blood sweat.
