If you are using contact lenses, you should avoid doing these four undesirable habits:

Not regularly replacing the case for your contact lenses. So that the accumulation of possibly sight-threatening bacteria can be prevented, change your contact lenses as prescribed. The case should also be replaced every 3 to 4 months. Once per week, sterilize the case for 5 minutes using boiling water.
Topping off or re-using old lens solutions. This habit also causes bacteria accumulation which increases the possibility of getting eye infections.
Using saliva or water to clean contact lenses. Your saliva is full of germs. Tap water also has dangerous eye infection-causing organisms that could even cause blindness. If need be, use cooled-down boiled water from the tap, distilled water, or saline solution.
Sleeping with your contact lenses still on. Sleeping in your contacts could increase the risk of developing infections that could pave the way for vision loss or permanent damage to the eyes. If sleeping in your contacts happens by accident, take them out, clean them, and do not use them for at least 24 hours.
