Norwegian Elkhounds sport a wolf-like face, not to mention their intelligence and sense of humor. They usually race their owners in the kitchen and howl for fun. Norwegian Elkhounds are best described as protective, energetic, and bold. They make good watchdogs and are very devoted, too. They also cheer you up on your lap when you're upset. In addition, these adaptable, affectionate dogs do well with experienced and novice parents. Be sure, though, that you give them a lot of exercises to satisfy their high energy, and don't forget about their shedding.

These pups originally worked in hunting big games like moose. And contrary to their name, hunting elk was never really their thing. They're not hounds, either. In Norwegian, the word "Norsk Elghund" actually translates to "moose dog." Meanwhile, "elch" is the German word for "moose," which explains the breed's confusing name.

Your pet will benefit from regular health and wellness checks at your local veterinarian Plano TX.
