Yes, there are 12 kittens in my foster room right now. Full house!! Each of my two ferret cages have a kitten, ones too little to be tested and vaccinated yet, so they can't join the gang, though they sure want to. Little Madrid, who I introduced when he came in recently is doing well, and actually going for testing and his first vaccine Monday. In the meantime he gets some playtime in the bathroom each day so he can run around a bit more. He's a cutie! Quite ferocious in his own mind.

The newest little girl just arrived Thursday evening. She had an eye that wasn't looking at all good, and I was fortunately that the vet saw her Friday am. She had a swipe wound above her eye and they had trouble getting the crud off it and all cleaned, but they got it done and a few days of topical antibiotics is doing wonders. Her weight would indicate that she's about three weeks old, but her abilities and behavior say something more like nearly five weeks, so she's very underweight. She was found in an alley all by herself. She's doing well so far, eating up a storm (from a bowl thankfully, rather than needing a bottle) and she's managed to cover much of her chest and fur with dried fur. But she let me give her a bath today without fussing at all, so she's a sweetie. Her name is Athens.

About 8 of the cats are available for adoption right now, and four of them have firm commitments. We have surgery appointments three Wednesdays in a row for 10 of them, starting July 12. In the meantime, it is the wild west in the kitten room, and litter scooping and filling the kibble dish are fulltime jobs! Not to mention processing lots of applications and having meet and greets. Twelve kittens at once was probably a bit more than I should have taken on, but it is what it is for now. It will be worth it if we can find them all wonderful homes.
