If you see people sitting on the streets eating a large sandwich and stumble upon a line up, you have likely found All'Antico Vinaio. A popular sandwich shop that originated in Florence, but have several locations around Italy and overseas in New York and Los Angeles.
The sandwiches are made with in-house baked schiacciata bread, which is similar to focaccia, but thinner with a crispy exterior and chewy interior. Fillings can include cheese, meats, vegetables and cream. The sandwich is quite large; shareable with two people.
Beatrice (€11) - beef carpaccio, stracchino soft cheese, cream of truffle and rocket leaves.
The locations in Florence are side-by-side, which can be confusing but they have the same menu. If there is a line up (and most likely there is), don't worry… it goes by fast.
La Summer (€7) - prosciutto, fior di latte mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil. Added rocket leaves for extra €0.50
