I am Writing: A Supernatural Thriller

This project is coming to a close. I have almost finished the final review, well, that is a bit of a writer's joke really; I never finish reviewing my books as an editorial process! Like all acts of creation, however, you have to know when to stop. As this has proven to be a relatively easy book to write I have not struggled with coming to the conclusion; it seemed to do that quite naturally itself. My wife, Donna, was quite happy with the way the book ended, but suggested a couple of short chapters so that the main characters could tie up some of the loose strings. Her instincts have proven to be correct throughout this project, so I did what she suggested and I must admit, I like the way the story concludes now.

After I finish the review, which will be hopefully today, I am going to start the submission process to literary agents. Donna firmly believes that this is the book that will bring me publishing success. She wants me to go down the path of conventional publishing with it even though my previous attempts never succeeded, fortunately, I am an optimist so I am willing to give it another try. I still intend to publish the eBook version myself as it can take a long time from submission to getting a response, as past experience has shown me.

Normally, after I finish writing a new novel, I go back to one of my earlier books and review that manuscript. I do not see it as work as I enjoy reading what I have written before. Often I have to resist the temptation to rewrite whole sections because my style of writing has changed over the years, and also because my historical fictions books require more descriptive passages, which are generally longer than the kind I write now. However, as much fun as I find doing this, I was in the middle of another project, tentatively titled 'The King of Pomerania's Court', when the urge to write the supernatural thriller tore me away. I also have another idea that is cooking quite nicely in my brain, but after having a conversation with Donna about what to do next, I have decided to finish what I started. She has read some of the early chapters from 'The King of Pomerania's Court' and liked them. Although she does not know the full scope of the book, I have told her that the ending will make her cry so now she wants to see if this is true. So, after today I am returning to Pomerania and I feel quite happy about that.
