Sunday …

By Ann Schwartz on June 30, 2024

Yesterday was yet another lovely day in the 'hood.

I was out the door early, but took care of pets and then puttered in the greenhouse. I didn't move any rocks.

Shelly stopped by on her way on her way to a horse club function, leaving some pea seeds for Sharon and Zev.

I delivered the seeds to our friends' farm. They were taking a break to look at Sharon's photos from her hiking trips and adventures in Scotland and I was glad to share in the fun.

I confessed that though I envied the "camaraderie" and many parts of the trip, I could not have hiked that much.

After this short visit, I followed the less-used backroad to reach Valemount. my mission was to pick up three small quilts that were made by someone I met many years ago. The completed projects were being sold at very reasonable prices by her daughter.

I was thrilled with the quilts. Talked of the dear departed and philosophized about aging, and then I was on my merry way again.

Though I rarely get to Valemount, everyone seemed in good humour and some remembered me from dog sitting or grooming.

I hit the "Anglican Thrift Shop", grocery store, health food store (where I picked up a package for Shelly), a swap shed and an antique store.

I didn't find any cutlery boxes except two that were worth a fair price full of cutlery … not what I need.

Mica and I snacked on pepperoni and cheese (and grapes for me), stopped for a couple of brakes and returned home. It had been a six hour foray of visiting and slacking off!

Shelly had a good day riding a horse and clearing trails. The location is not far east from our acreage, and on the same mountain range. It's higher in elevation than I've claimed on foot or on horseback!

Okay, see how I wrote that I had slacked off nearly all day yesterday?

Well, I plan to do very little today also! Shelly has invited me to go into Prince George with her. She needs to hit Art Knapp's and any other garden centre that is open on a Sunday. I can find some treasure in our travels, I'm sure.

I didn't want to say no to a day with our daughter.

Hope your day is pleasant too.

Love, Ann
