Wednesday …

By Ann Schwartz on July 3, 2024

Yesterday turned out okay despite my rather wakeful night before the uneventful day.

I had the chance to tell our friends that I'd be keeping the behemoth locker unit: I was babysitting their dog for the day so we saw each other.

I don't know why I was taking everything so seriously; I guess I felt somehow defeated. Oh! Maybe like a toddler that hears "no" or even "I don't approve …" 🀷🏼‍♀️

I spent much of the morning working at tidying the kennel building and I even took some items to the swap shed. I'm not finished. Never ends.

When I visited the house in town, almost everything was done. All the laundry was finished, floors swept and mopped, everything so tidy. The health professional who last stayed there has been a regular and tells others that the house is "luxurious". I hope I never disappoint him.

The 'Ivory Silk' Lilac in the yard downtown is blooming for the first time in its young life.

After lunch, I went back to the Pet Hostel building and moved some things around. I dismantled a covered four by four kennel and removed it from the middle of the room. I told Gary that I'd made the space into a dance hall … at least until I fill it back up again. He chuckled (in a good natured way).

My shoulder was complaining, but it was very little trouble to wash Macey and trim her nails. The owners/our friends didn't ask for that, but we usually "fight" about my fees: they try to pay me too much!

I forgot to take a photo, but here's an older one of the young darling:

Today will be the big push to get ready to go; I often think I'm already packed for such a trip, but I'm often mistaken.

Gary cleaned the car yesterday and made it like new. Okay, well, it is only months off the lot, but it has hauled a dog who sheds, some plants and soil and grubby stuff. 🀷🏼‍♀️

Love, Ann

P.s. In my spare time, I've been harvesting and freezing spinach and kale. I planted just a few old seeds, but it's a thick crop anyway.
