Wednesday…

By Ann Schwartz on July 31, 2024

Sorry if yesterday's post got jumbled. Until late afternoon, I wasn't even sure it was posted and when. Wasn't proofread either.

Tuesday was a busy day in Prince George, and of course the trip and the shopping was tiring.

I was so weary by 3 o'clock that, had I not committed myself to some doggy business at home, and if I hadn't bought meat, I would have treated myself to a motel room. Not exactly the way to save money, but safer.

As it was, I was home by 6 pm., with dinner on the table by 6:15. Yes!

I searched for specific plants for Shelly and for myself, starting with the only "major" garden centre. I listened patiently while one salesperson tried to convince me that a plant I was looking for was not perennial and would not be found in Prince George anywhere, because "people only buy them in the spring".

Golden Creeping Jenny aka Lysymachia 'nummularia'

Okay, so it's semi-perennial sometimes: my "nummularia" survived my care for ten years in pots.

At the very next store, I found that plant. The sales associate there also loves it, and said it was almost weedy where she has it in her yard, planted in the ground.

Okay, so I don't always have to be right, but sometimes I am.

I managed to visit Honda, Art Knapp's Garden Centre, Walmart, Dollarama, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Costco, Value Village and three other thrift stores. No wonder I got tired.

Whether this is good news or sad, I didn't find a single cutlery box. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ But I do know other thrift stores and three antique stores; starting points for next time. I have not let go of my focus/passion/ obsession yet. I should, and soon I will.

Meanwhile at home, helicopters are still searching for and dowsing hot spots near McBride and Dunster but the extreme danger has passed.

Near Jasper, they are still trying to get control of the fire.

Today, I accepted a wee dog for grooming, and there are a couple of doggy boarders. I have freezers to organize, and I even had a nightmare about that: but bounty is a blessing.

Hope your day is great.

Love, Ann
