Rehearsals for The Game's Afoot begin this week at The Peninsula Players.
But work has already begun on the set for the show.
Many community theatres have designated folks or teams that work on set building.
The Peninsula Players puts out a call to whoever is available on the set building weekends.
And folks that are available show up.
Actors, directors, producers come out. So do some past participants of other shows.
And don't forget the significant others of people involved in the show.
Even the occasional person interested in finding out more about the theatre.
All kinds of folks come to help out.
Bring a cordless drill if you've got one.
I was there this weekend.
It's always neat to see how quickly the bare bones of the set can get put up.
It was hot, sweaty work.
But it helps put some ownership into the show, too.
And it's fun to chat with folks between lugging flats around and drilling screws into things.
Lunch was also served. Which adds further to the camaraderie.
Helping build the set really puts the community into Community Theatre.
