You may have heard that rumor about how cats always land on their feet. This actually isn't the case! Our feline pals are very lithe and agile. They can often twist themselves very quickly, and sometimes can right themselves in mid air. That said, falling from heights is still very dangerous for them. It's also quite common, particularly in cities. Unfortunately, many cats are injured by falls every year, and some are even killed. The types of injuries sustained in these types of incidents are known collectively as high-rise syndrome.
If you live on a second floor or higher, you'll need to take some steps to keep your pet safe. Make sure that all of your windows and screens close securely. It's also important to keep your cat safe and sound indoors. If your pet enjoys heights, get her a cat tower to look adorable on!
