Final Edition
He spent half his day
and all day the next day
with his blackest pen
on that single page:
left to right, then
left to right again
then right to left
just for balance
until he got bored
and crossed it all out
and crossed it out again
top to bottom, then
from the bottom up
and added diagonals
corner to corner
edge to edge
until the page was
nothing but black
and he was sure:
it was all there.
All he needed now
was a publisher.
