When I was a boy I went through some difficult experiences that me feel less than when it came to physicality.

Anyway, I internalised these experiences to the point it became the story of who I was. I was the academic type not the physical type. I set about proving my story by acquiring 3-science degrees by age 27. I did a non-contact sport – distance running.

My story was, I am not good at physicality. I am good at these other things.

I believed the story and everyone else believed the story because I kept reinforcing it with my behaviour to the point - it was my actual story.

Why do I keep highlighting story? Because story is what we use as our identity.

Whatever story we believe is whatever story we will be.

Therefore, if you change your story, you change yourself, if you change yourself, you change your life.

Recently, I was part of a rugby team that won a cup final. I played at 2nd row.

A few weeks before that, during my first game in that position, I won man of the match, scored a try and had the highest tackle count on the team.

I have no reference point for that guy, because he's part of a completely new story. So much so, I walked around in shock for a few days afterwards.

As I said last week, the unknown is where all the exciting stuff lives. It's just a scary trip going there.

What is your current story? What could be your new one? Next week, we'll look for clues as to where our new story might come from.

What a lot of noise – white noise, pink noise, green noise, and brown noise!
