Things aren't going so well for Bucky right now. He managed to get to his leg a week ago, and has a small wound, and it isn't healing. The rehab folks took an x-ray today to see if the pins have moved or other things are going on...his leg is still swollen more than three weeks after surgery. Based on what she saw, the rehab vet is concerned that Bucky's hardware (inside his leg) is infected. So we are headed back to the surgeon Tuesday (today by the time you see this) to see what she wants to do.

I don't have any skill at reading x-rays, but here is the inside of Bucky's back leg right now.

Bucky resting after his PT visit today; Gracie checking him out.

The only good news for the moment is that Bucky is actually putting weight on the back leg - the one that had surgery- when he walks. He doesn't put it down when he is just standing, but when he walks he is actually using it, so perhaps there is still hope here.

This whole process is definitely exhausting and more than a little discouraging at times. With all the months we spent working with Leelu's challenges, and now Bucky's, I think when Bucky is off to his forever home we won't be fostering dogs again for a good long time. Cats and kittens yes...but we're going to take a good long break on dogs. Gracie needs that as much as we do. Sharing me is not Gracie's best skill.
