Gracie and I had a wonderful time with a new visit site today, the memory care unit of our local residential care place. We've been to the care facility many times, but never to memory care. I was a little apprehensive, not knowing quite what to expect, but my worry was for naught. We had a wonderful time.

About 15 residents were seating in a big circle in the lounge when we arrived, all waiting to see the dogs. (There were just two of us, Gracie and another Cavalier named Bella.) Gracie went right to work, working the circle, greeting everyone, sitting on a lap here and there. She also entertained the crowd with some of her favorite tricks, and her figure 8 and her "say your prayers" were big favorites. Gracie wore out after about 45 minutes since she hasn't done a lot of visiting in the last year or so, but she'll develop more stamina as we get to visit more regularly.

The majority, though not all, of the folks were fairly cogent, and one gentleman was speaking another language...not sure what. But everyone wanted some time with Gracie and she was happy to oblige. We only visit once a month and I'm already thinking it would be fun to go more often! It is very nice to be out on a few therapy visits, even if they are few and far between still. Damn virus!!
