Dogs have always been regarded as man's best friend. They can listen to you talk about anything, watch any shows you want to see, and give you infinite love and loyalty. And during those days when you're overwhelmed with work and forget about them, your dog will still be patiently waiting for you to come home and be back in their furry arms when you're finally ready and available.

Dogs may not speak a language understandable to humans, but they can show off their love and care for their human families through their actions. Therefore, it's a good time for pet owners like you to show your love and appreciation for everything they did to make your life better. Since you also can't speak a language understandable for dogs, the best way to show your appreciation is through the activities and things you do for them.

To give you some ideas, here are six ways you can express your appreciation to your dogs.

  1. Spend Longer Playtime With Them

Compared to other pets, dogs are the most active ones. Most of them are born with the inner drive to always be on the go all the time. A good example would be the American Staffordshire Terrier dogs, as they can't last the day without playtime and other intense physical activity outdoors. But even with this fact, unfortunately, not all pet owners can keep up with them physically. And that may lead to them denying their dogs the opportunity to get the playtime they naturally need.

To show your appreciation for your dog, you can take your dog out and spend more time playing with them. You can take your pet for a walk around the park, or you can play fetch with them on the beach. This way, not only will your dog feel happy and loved, but both of you also get to enjoy some physical exercises and relieve stress.

  1. Buy Them A New Dog Bed

Have you noticed your dog become restless lately? Perhaps they're not getting enough rest and sleep than they need. So, have the initiative to check your dog's bed and see if it's looking a little ratty, dirty, and ragged. In that case, it's time you need to buy a new one for your furry friend.

According to Calming Dog, providing your pet with a dog bed that emits a natural fragrance is known to help your furry friend sleep peacefully and comfortably. And, of course, a dog that always gets enough rest and sleep will always be happy and healthy all year round. After all, buying a new dog bed can be an excellent way to show your gratitude after those nights where your dog let you hold and snuggle them until you fell asleep.

  1. Give Them More Attention

If there's anything that a dog would always want from you, it's your attention. You can shower them with gratitude by scratching their ears longer than usual. If possible, make it your daily habit every morning before you leave and when you get home from work

  1. Complement Your Dog

Who says only humans can appreciate compliments? If there's anyone in the room who deserves to be showered with your compliments, it's your dog. While the human and dog language may differ, dogs still love complements. To show your appreciation, you can tell them things like 'good boy!' or 'nice one, doggy.'

Those little compliments can already mean so much for them and boost their confidence and morale. Furthermore, frequently doing this will surely make your dog more eager to see you every time.

  1. Take Them For A Car Ride

Dogs enjoy peeping their heads out on the car window and feel the fresh air on their faces. With that in mind, why not take them for a car ride often? Whether you're dropping your kids off at school, running a quick errand in the store, or going on a road trip, you can let your dog sit on the front seat and open the car window a little.

However, make sure your dog is on a seatbelt or a leash, as there may be cases when they suddenly get too excited over a view from the window and attempt to jump out. To keep your dog calm during the trip, you can drive at a slower pace.

  1. Have A Pamper Session

Dogs need to be pampered too! To do this, you can take your dog to a trusted dog grooming salon and let them have a new haircut or book them for a spa appointment. Dog appreciates massages, and you would definitely want your dog to get once in a while.

You can also have their nails cut and buy them some dog clothes to finish their overall look. Your dog will indeed look and feel fabulous. After their session, you can take lots of pictures together and show how much you love and adore your furry friend.

Takeaway

You love your dog, but sometimes your daily responsibilities can take a toll on you and overshadow your time to be spent for your dog. To express your appreciation, take a day or week off and do any of these things with them. Better yet, strive to do these every day and make them feel loved and appreciated every waking moment of their lives.
