Have you all ever taken those personality quizzes to see what kind of animal you are? I'm fairly certain that if Bowser were to take one of them he'd come back with half cat, half dog. The quote that comes to mind, from Spaceballs, "I'm half man, half dog. I'm my own best friend!" How, you ask, is my Franken-kitty half cat and half dog? Let me count the ways.
Bowser will come when called. Generally I call for "meow meow" but he will also come for Bowser. He comes to the door to greet you when you come home. He will wrestle with Princess Peach. He spends several minutes drinking at the water bowl, just like the dogs. His preferred place to sleep is on top of me, or on the furniture. Not his cat tower (although, in his defense, he's too big for it now). He's super good for me to clip his nails. He generally does not mind belly rubs, and sometimes even likes them. He gives kisses on the face just like the dogs do. He does play a mini game of fetch. He's a people person, and will greet and hang out with new visitors. He will inevitably find the non cat person though, and try to befriend them too
So how is he at all like a cat? Besides the normal furniture and carpet scratching, he likes to sleep in the closet, makes a mess with the litter going everywhere in his bedroom. After a few pets, he will bite your hand. He runs around in the middle of the night (or rather, first thing in the morning). He does not care for his little round bed on the ground (although, neither do my dogs). Face nudges are his favorite thing.
There are some things that the dogs and Bowser have in common, including the love of catching/eating bugs, snuggling, and sleeping as much as possible. But most people will admit that Bowser is a pretty good kitty cat, and does act like a dog frequently. All I know is that he fits right in.
