I was a faithful customer of a certain successful company for 40+ years.
Service was always good, no issues for all the years…but got caught up in the competition's marketing funnel. Easy to switch, service (allegedly) better, and a much lower price. Pay less and have something better?
I debated switching for weeks. I pondered, rationalized; sold myself.
Yesterday, I did. No fanfare, no attempted resell, just an email saying we're sorry to see you go.
Got a thank you note from the new company, but this emotionally draining mental exercise faded quietly into the night. If you leave a brand after that many years, I thought I would feel more, I thought they'd even ask why. How many customers fire a brand every day, and no one asks…or cares?
