Hi all...and happy new year. Like most, I am reflecting a little on the past year, as well as the upcoming one.
I am proud, happy, satisfied, to say that I found forever homes for 33 cats and kittens this past year. I won't be doing that many cats again...it was a lot to manage! And with my responsibilities as the sole coordinator of the rescue's adoption program now, I will need to pull back a bit on fostering. I still hope to do some, but will also help the whole rescue by being a way-station for cats and kittens we don't yet have placements for. Some of them will come to stay with me for a bit until we have a foster home that can see them through the adoption process. Little Calle, who went with her brother to her forever home last week, will be back later today so she can be spayed tomorrow and then formally adopted. The photos I've gotten from her new home show that both kittens are having a wonderful time, and very much loved already.
Then, depending on some test results, I will take in three kittens whose foster needs a helping hand getting them ready for adoption.
As for the test results...the year ended on a more unsettled note. A routine mammogram resulted in another mammogram, an ultrasound, and finally a biopsy last Friday, and I should have results this week. To add insult to injury I developed sciatica that was pretty intense for a couple days. I still can't sit easily, but with Tylenol, stretches, and heat, it is calming down. So I have been behind in responding to your wonderful blogs, though I've been reading as best I can. Standing at the computer gets old quickly, but hopefully the sciatica is on its way out.
The crew here - human, feline, and canine, wish you all the best in 2024. Thank you for following along with me here! Always grateful for your company.
Debra
