Today was the most important day of our entire visit. Yes, it was my birthday, but that it isn't why it was so important.
It was Trivia Night at The Mighty Peace Brewing Company.
My birthday celebrations were secondary to the big event.
But before that, we went for a hike on the Cactus Trail.
We brought Willow with us, but Meeko had to be left at home. It would be too much walking for her.
It was still hard to believe how warm it was. Usually the temperature is around -30C at this time of year. But here we were, jackets off and still breaking a sweat.
There were many trails weaving around these hills. It was sort of a Make-Your-Own-Adventure.
We got to one little trail that I'm pretty sure only goats use. Although we were high up, the slope was gradual.
My fear of heights didn't kick in because there were no sudden cliffs or precarious drops. But I wouldn't want to roll down the slope, either. There were some prickly bushes.
At one point, I asked Keaton, "Is Kate trying to haze us?" I was just curious.
She had us navigating through some prickly places.
But Kate was in hiking mode and was usually with Keaton and Willow when doing this trail. Not with a couple of sixty-year-olds, huffing and puffing behind her.
More gorgeous views.
Keaton and Kate were going to make Chicken Roti for dinner. But we were getting close to departure time. Trivia waits for no one. So, Roti got postponed and we had some chicken wings instead.
Even then, we had to gobble up quickly to get to Trivia on time. But we still managed to get in some birthday cake.
I wish I could say that we were the mighty heroes of Trivia.
Prizes go to the top two teams.
And we came in third.
But it was fun. And we got to meet some of Keaton and Kate's friends.
After Trivia, it was back home for another night cap and chatting. Then off to bed.
