The last day out West arrived sooner than we wanted it to.
Our flight was leaving at 11:20am. But Caileigh was heading out on an earlier flight, so we said our goodbyes to her the night before.
When I got up, I went into the living room and had a shock!
Caileigh was there!
She had missed her flight. So, she was going to be flying to Vancouver with us. Which meant that Caileigh's trip home was going to be much longer than before.
There aren't many direct flights to Fort St. John. We were flying to Vancouver and then to Winnipeg and finally to Toronto.
Caileigh had a direct flight from Vancouver to Ottawa. But because she missed her original flight, her connecting flight was going to be six hours later.
But that meant we were able to have our final breakfast together. We had some eggs from Keaton and Kate's chickens. And some bacon ends. Plus, leftovers from last night's meal.
Another delicious feast!
And now, after the snow yesterday, Fort St. John looked a little more like it normally does at this time of year. A blanket of white covered the ground.
We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare.
There was some excitement on our flight to Vancouver. The following announcement was made:
"Is there are doctor on board? We have a medical emergency. Is there a doctor on board?"
When we landed, we stayed in our seats while the medical services came in and checked on the person having an issue. They were able to walk out of the plane on their own.
But it was a little scary before we knew what the issue was.
Our connecting flight to Winnipeg was delayed so we could hang out with Caileigh a bit longer.
And then we were off. Of course, our flight to Toronto from Winnipeg got delayed slightly, too. But it was actually the same plane, so we weren't in danger of missing it.
Finally, we landed in Toronto and collected our bags. We got home around 1:30am. So, it was a long day.
But it was a fantastic week out West. Looking forward to going back for another visit soon!
