In January, pastry chef Lili Linda of Tatin Bakehouse (formerly of Hexagon Restaurant in Oakville) did a pop-up at Kiss My Pans, a Singaporean eatery and market. I've been waiting for the right opportunity to order from Lili Linda's pastry drops, but…
I've been waiting for the right opportunity to order from Lili Linda's pastry drops, but it was the matter of finding time to drive to Oakville to pick up. So when the pop-up at Kiss My Pans was announced, I made sure get there early.
Mini Pandan Cake with brown butter ganache and berries
The mini pandan cake came with Kiss My Pans' kopi, which is Singaporean coffee with condensed milk.
Durian Paris Brest
Got this specifically for my husband, whom loves durian and doesn't get to eat much of it. He very much enjoyed this pastry.
Kueh Lapis Legit (Indonesian layer cake)
Kueh Lapis Legit may look simple, but it is a very labour intensive cake to make. Using LOTS of eggs, butter and sugar, it is very decadent, yet so so good.
I am so happy that Lili Linda did a pop up in downtown Toronto (she has done a few), but I'm still going to try find time for a pastry drop in Oakville.
