Closely related to the Suckermouth Catfish or Plecostomus Catfish (Hypostomus plecostomus), it is also known as the Royal Panaque, Royal Pleco, Dull-Eye Royal Pleco, and Broken Line Royal Pleco. The Black Lines Royal Pleco is an armoured catfish with hardy plates, except for its soft belly. The plates look like scales, but they are not scales. Its oval-shaped body is light-grey or green with dark-grey to black irregular lines. Its dorsal (back) fins are edged in cream or gold. The Black Lines Royal Pleco has a sucker-like mouth (like a suction cap) which enables it to stick to surfaces. It has red eyes. | | | |
