A major loss perhaps, or a subtle reminder of a dream deferred.
Some will quickly jump in and hope to drown, while others fear the swift current and seek to remain safely ashore.
Eventually each of us must learn to swim the rapids, alone or with others, with or without a buoy. And while the water is cold and biting, eventually we adjust.
I have swum here many times and will do so again until that day I'm washed out to sea and my journey ends.
