Even if one, even though I, don't work a 9 to 5, "regular" work week, there is something about the weekend that is inherently pleasant. There is often something interesting to do in the community, and sometimes I even declare Sunday "a day of rest".
Today, Gary will go back to help at the horse club event, 'Rendezvous' for a few hours. Then he'll drive an hour back home to rest and to pick me up for the dinner and dance.
I'm not sure about mingling with hundreds of people, though there will be some I know. I haven't danced for years either. Maybe I'll have a can o' beer or a wee glass of wine and get over myself! I am not normally considered shy, but most people don't realize how inferior and insecure I often feel.
Really, I look forward to the date night with Gary. Tomorrow is his birthday and I didn't plan anything out of the ordinary. I gave him money for new rubber boots, prefacing the presentation with, "Sorry it's not a trip to Kentucky or a hot tub…".
I will try to make him a little chocolate cake, which isn't that grand a gesture because goodness knows we love to eat and I enjoy cooking and baking. But my dear soulmate also doesn't like a lot of "fuss".
At the Pet Hostel, we have Minna, who is treated like a little friend. She has to be confined to a large run at times, partly because she will run off to roll in horse manure or potentially get under the horses' feet. Also, she keeps our Mica too active, and we are still worried about Mica's ligament issue.
Minna looks grumpy, but never is.
Wigz and Mo, on an outing with their owners.
Max gets a peanut for being nice.
Max, one of our favourite labradors.

Okay, the boarders and resident pets (cats, horses, chickens) are all cared for and it's time to rustle up some breakfast.
I have a full day planned of cleaning in the kennel building and the house, gardening, and … oh wait, that'll be enough.
It's raining steadily, but lightly, so it might clear up. We need the rain.
Take care everyone!
