John and Dana Muggleton (far right) with the Burn team from The Player's Guild
After our Friday performance of Burn, we got a surprise.
Before we could go out and greet our family and friends after the show, we were told to head back upstairs. Matt, the director, wanted to talk to us and was bringing some other people.
Ominous…
It turned out that John Muggleton and his wife Dana had seen the show. And they wanted to talk to us.
John wrote Burn.
He and Dana have seen many productions of the play. It's been performed many times.
And he said that our show was the best version he had seen!
High praise!
He and Dana were sincere and effusive.
Wow.
Both of them complemented the set, the direction, and the acting. They commended the whole team.
Deb was sitting behind them during the performance. And she knew who they were. She could see them reacting to some parts and commenting to each other about other things.
They caught many of the subtleties that Matt wanted us to put in.
You rarely get to have the playwright see your performance of their play. But to have him say it's the best version…
I'm still basking in the after glow.
It was and is a team effort.
So much work goes on before we put the show on for an audience. And so much work goes on behind the scenes that the audience doesn't necessarily see.
It takes a village to put on a play. And to get the feedback that we did. Awesome.
We done good!
