Well, the kitchen project is about finished with week one, ahead of schedule. There's an hour of sanding to do Thursday am, but that's it for the week. The painter comes Monday. It has been noisy, but the folks who were here were all good and very productive. The cats had to stay locked in the laundry room, Gracie and Ace up in my office. Carly won't tolerate being in a room by herself, or with the other pups, so she was leashed to a leg of the couch. At least one of us needed to be here for the days, so Carly had company, and settled into the new routine nicely. But they will all be glad to be free for a few days, at least until Monday.
Here's what the demo looked like:
It took only about four hours to tear the kitchen apart. It will be about three weeks to put it back together but they got all the dry wall and the subfloor in in just 2 1/2 days, so I'm impressed.
Here's what it looks like now...big improvement.
Monday the painter comes, and the Tuesday - Thursday all the new cabinets go in. Friday the folks for the granite countertops come and do a template to make sure everything is good for the countertops. Hopefully it will continue to move along on schedule, or ahead of it, like this week. Time will tell.
In the meantime, we're managing with the outdoor grill, and some prepared salads and other things. Sort of picnic fare. But Thursday night we go out for a nice dinner. We're giving ourselves one dinner out a week. It's a bit of a nuisance, managing in the dining room, but not as bad as I thought. We'll make it through.
Have a good weekend, everyone, and for those celebrating, a happy Father's Day.
