I can only admit to my secret followers, my blog reading friends, than I am homesick.
I'll also say that it has been quite the learning curve, but I'm adjusting by degrees. Gary kindly guides me through the "rules of the family cottage use": not one of us is a slob, but there are specific routines and guidelines.
This is Uncle Paul's vacation house, inherited from his parents. He and his cottage are steeped in tradition and nostalgia. Most of the decor is vintage and very charming.
Beth and Juno got in from B.C. on Saturday and then Gary's brother Steve, and his wife Sharon, brought the others to Gimli. Last night's dinner was a joint effort and marvellous.
I hadn't seen Gary's brother and family since 2012. We all played "Cards Against Humanity ~ Family Edition" and laughed so hard.
Today we'll go into Winnipeg to see Toby, the matriarch of the family, try to find a playground for Juno for awhile, and maybe a Value Village for me (and for Beth).
Gary took me to a nearby community to take in a farmers market yesterday. It was not as well attended on a Sunday as a Saturday, but guess what I found?
Yes, I spotted a cutlery box right away. It wasn't cheap and had a set of stainless steel flatware in it … but the fact that there was one was convincing enough. I bought it and will resell or give away the cutlery.
Then, be damned if I didn't find another box! This one was from a crafter, was already stripped down and decorated. I also felt this was meant to be.

I have been sidetracked and we are on our way to see Toby in Winnipeg.
I'll blog some more tomorrow!
Love, Ann
