Auston - 09/04/2024 Today is the 2nd half of Auston's life, as he passed over the rainbow bridge this morning. Please bear with me, as there is so much to say with the joy he brought to our lives the past 19+ years 19 years ago, a little guy came into our lives and became part of our family. His name was Auston. My apartment was on South Congress (SoCo) and Auston was several months old at the time. Chad and I would walk him across the street to Jo's Coffee and he would enjoy, with us, listening to the bands playing there or he would dine with us at El Sol La Luna or Doc's and salivate over the smell of our food. Later, when we moved into Travis Heights neighborhood, again we always hung out with him on SoCo and he would snatch a Homeslice Pizza crust off the curb without his parent's seeing him, or he would find an Amy's Ice Cream cup left off the curb and lick away to his heart's content any leftover ice cream, as fast as he could before his mom and dad could catch him in the act. During SXSW, Chad, Auston and I were sitting at Jo's Coffee and a photographer with a fancy camera, took a photo of Auston to put in his SXSW magazine (he did have the cutest skull, rocker T-shirt on:) - but from then on, he was an official SoCo star! Years passed and we moved to the Eastside and Auston became an Eastsider with us. Every time we were at a coffee shop, bar or restaurant, we couldn't walk away from the evening without people stopping by to say "HI!" to him - we felt like we had a little celebrity with us! Auston was the best pup you could ever imagine - he was a trooper, going with us whenever possible, we were the perfect 3-some:) He was my little travel buddy whether going with me back home to San Antonio and loved his Grandparent Ramirez's house or even if it was going with me to run errands or pick up my curbside food orders. Speaking of, he loved car rides, especially sitting on his dad's lap, to soak up the wind. Did someone say squeakers? If so, Auston could de-squeaker a toy in 30 seconds flat! When Auston was a small pup, he chewed apart my aunt's leather purse strap as he sat quietly between her feet. Months later, my brother and sister-in-law bought Auston a birthday toy that was made of military grade, where it was guaranteed to not be torn apart in any way. Well, Auston's teeth of steel ripped right through it. Auston's grandparents loved to spoil him - one time, while Chad's grandma, Helen babysat him, they shared egg drop soup together, "one cracker for you and one cracker for me" was their motto, as Helen dipped her crackers into the egg drop soup. When Chad's mom, Kim, babysat Auston, Auston loved flying from her sofa to the ottoman. Oh and then one Christmas, my parent's and I arrived back home one evening and Auston got into a box of chocolates that was gift wrapped as a present under the tree from my parent's friend, thank goodness he ended up being just fine with a full belly. When I think about Auston, happy go-lucky, very well-behaved, never causing any trouble (99.9% of the time), all come to mind. We have been blessed over these past 19 years and 2 weeks, not only with the joy he filled our hearts with but he never had any serious medical issues. This little guy has engraved his paw in our hearts forever and we know he is in heaven, happy, safe and pain-free, with our loved ones and fur babies. Auston, your mom and dad love you to the moon and back and you have forever changed our lives and we hold you close in our hearts and will always keep your memories alive! Love you baby boy, may you rest in peace.....God bless you and angels always protect you Love, your mom and dad (Candice & Chad)
