Stimulate the body to calm the mind
Cross Fit for the MindThe Newsletter that Changes the Minds of High Performers |

If overstimulation is the problem and rest is the solution. How do we get from overstimulation to rest. We start by removing the stimulants from the mind as we have been the last couple of weeks. But often that is not enough to bring us to a restful state. The solution lies in the body. By stimulating the body it can take us out of the mind. • If you have ever done cold water swimming, at some point afterwards a calm feeling will descend. • If you have ever gone for a hot sauna, at some point afterwards a calm feeling will descend. • If you have ever reached the end of a yoga class, known as Savasana, a calm feeling will descend. • If you have ever had a relaxing massage, you will be half asleep by the end of it. Intense stimulation of the body is like a circuit breaker. By stimulating the body, we help to de-stimulate the mind and prepare you to be able to rest and recharge. Next week, we'll try pull this 'energy' series all together. In the meantime – try one. Enjoying the newsletter and want a friend to sign up and answer the questions/prompts with you?
