There's the thing and the space around the thing.

When I was an athlete I had a lot of injuries before I knew how not to have them.

One of the biggest shifts I made was learning that training wasn't just about training, it was about what happened before training and what happened after training.

The quality of the workout was as much to do with what went on around it, as the workout itself.

I made a lot of cuts in my life to facilitate my training and get the most out of myself. I increased the headspace in my week so that I could commit to something properly.

If you want to have a good meeting, you need to allow some time before it and after it, so that you can be fully present.

If you want to get the benefit of a weekend away you need to allow time before you leave to prepare and time after you come home to recover.

If you want to have a good training session, you need time before it to arrive in relaxed state of mind and time after it to recover.
