Why Cain Slew Abel:

I have just listened to a preacher on tbnuk.org preaching about Cain and Abel. Probably a repeat programme, and that's okay. He admits he doesn't know what it was all about, and so I will tell you here.

You have to remember that Adam and Eve had previously been living in the garden of Eden where they had been living on the fruits of the garden. They were sent out to live off the land, and become meat and veg eating farmers. Abel adapted to becoming a shepherd and when he offered his sacrifice of a lamb of his flock to God God was pleased with what he had done, because he wanted them to become meat eating farmers. Cain had not adapted, and when he offered his sacrifice of same old fruits to God God saw the need to rebuke him. Cain's killing of Abel was a crime of passion, and crimes of passion, when they can be seen as obviously crimes of passion can be treated more leniently. Cain was not hung, but instead he was sent out to learn the hard way what life and survival is really like. 'All of the time we are learning. Most of the time. All of the time. There is an awful lot to learn.
