The book Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd was first published in September 1947. It is a book that I've read to my children and then the grandchildren; a truly sweet and loving classic.
But the goodnight moon that is the subject of this post was the full Hunter's Moon from last night when the sky was clear for the most part save for a few moments when the moon and the clouds played tag with each other.
I was on the verge of saying goodnight when I happened to look out my back door and saw this amazing sight. There went going to bed in a timely manner.....
I waited for some time for the clouds to pass last night as today is very rainy and cloudy which meant it was a now or never photography situation. It was good thing that I waited because when the moon and the clouds took a break from dancing with each other the moonlight was glorious! In fact, it was so bright it lit the entire back yard and was bright enough for me to see the settings on my 100-400mm lens.
Even though I captured a completely cloud free image of the moon, I like this shot because it shows just a little bit of the clouds drifting away. Adds atmosphere I think.
Watch out for those pesky werewolves and stay on the path! You've been warned....
