As you know now, moving can be a stressful undertaking for your beloved cat. Most felines find it stressful to move from one place to another because they are "territorial." This term means that cats develop a strong bond with their environment. So, ensure that your cat will have a smooth trip from your old home to your new one.
Listed below are some guidelines in arriving in your new living environment:
Let the bedroom furniture first be unloaded.
Use a pheromone diffuser (synthetic feline) in the new room where your feline will be confined temporarily. Use the diffuser hours before you bring her in.
When the room is ready, place your cat there with her bed, feeding bowls, and litter tray. Do not forget to close the door properly.
Bring your cat some treats.
When you finish arranging your stuff, allow your cat to explore the new house one room at a time.
Close all external windows and doors.
Do not show any signs of anxiety to let your cat feel relaxed.
Supervise your cat as much as possible as she explores the entire house.
You may consider placing your feline in a cattery if she is anxious the day before the move. You can get her when you have finally settled in your new home.
