Happy first day of November. It's the second to last day here in Lucca and to say I am tired it's an understatement. Once I am back in Rome, I will have to sleep for like a week long to recover from this extra long week I am having. It's also World Championships season for the artistic gymnastics elite team and you cannot imagine the stress I am under. It's like I am there with them competing, even if I would probably die if I tried a summersault.
Anyways, today I am here with the third instalment of my (sporadic) manga series, which will be focussing on all the manga series I own at least one volume of and want to either start or restart (more on this later on). I am very bad when it comes to buying books and not reading them, you probably know that, so I have 12 series to talk about. In my defence, the plan is to read them all but one this year, at least the ones I've never started.
Card Captor Sakura by CLAMP Owned: volumes 1 to 3 This is one of the series I want to restart. I am slowly collecting the special editions — they are like 10 euros each, which is a lot — to reread the first volumes and finish the series, because I first read the first two volumes at the library when I was younger, then never finished them and just watched the anime. I am a huge fan of magical girls and I refuse not to have read this series in its entirety. I will read the volumes I own and then buy the rest and I am going to do it this year. That's a vow I am making right now.
Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida Owned: volumes 1 to 3 I have actually read all three of the volumes I own when I was in high school and I remember enjoying them. However, I don't remember much of what happened and I want to reread them to see whether it's worth it to continue on with the series or not. I also don't know if I am going to pick up :RE, in case I decide to go on with the main series. I kinda want to, but I also kinda don't want to, because I usually don't like spin-off series and such, but we will see. First I need to read these three volumes of the regular series and decide.
Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki Owned: volumes 1, 3 and 4 Just like Tokyo Ghoul, I've read the first 7 or 8 volumes of the series when I was in high school. A friend gave me her copies, and now the older numbers are difficult to find, since they appear to be out of print. However, ever since then, I've read Vanitas no Carte by the same author and I wanted to give this series a second chance. As soon as I find volume 2 somewhere, I will reread the volumes I've already read and then finally finish it. It's one of my friend's favourite series and I want to know how it's going to end.
Haikyuu by Haruichi Furudate Owned: volumes 1 and 2 I have a very long and complicated story with this manga and anime. No, I am joking, but I have started both of them multiple times and I am extremely interested in finishing them, but for one reason or another I never seem to do so. I'd love to read the whole manga first, but it's made of like 45 volumes and my wallet is already empty as it is, so it's probably going to take a long time. I will do it, though, I promise. I am the queen of spokon and sports fiction in general, I need to finish this series, for God's sake.
Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama Owned: volume 1 I honestly do not remember if I've ever actually read this first volume. I think I may have, but I could not tell you a single thing it was in there. However, it's one of the most famous and loved manga and anime series of all times, I really want to give it a try. I don't know if the art style is going to be for me, but in general, if I like the story, I can look over an art style that is not to my taste. I am really curious to see what all the hype is about, because I managed to avoid most of the spoilers for years now and I need to know.
Assassination Classroom by Yusei Matsui Owned: volume 1 Once again, I have no idea if I've ever started this series, but in this case I tend to think I have, because I have some really vague memories of it. Which could also mean I have watched a trailer for the anime series and I am confusing things. Who knows? I just know a friend of mine from high school really liked this and the covers are really cool in my opinion. I also know the series has around 20 volumes and I want to cry just thinking about how much money I'll need to spend if I end up liking all of these series I am listing here.
The Promised Neverland by Kaiu Shirai Owned: volume 1 Can we please take a moment to talk about how much coverbait factors into me buying all these first volumes in a series? Because the art style for this manga is really amazing and I am probably going to want to buy the whole series just because of its covers. I am still not sure what the series is actually about, I just know that it's supposed to be darker than it looks, that the anime is shit, and that I saw the word "Neverland" in the title and decided I just had to buy at least the first volume. Which is still sitting on my shelves. I know.
Snow White With the Red Hair by Sorata Akizuki Owned: volume 1 I have five reasons to have bought this one: a friend recommended it to me, I love red haired main characters, she looks like Will from W.I.T.C.H., it was like 1 euro and I love the character on the cover of the second volume. Do I actually know what this series is about? Absolutely not. Like not even the slightest hint. With the other series, I at least know something about them or what to expect. With this one, I am going in completely blind. I guess it's some kind of fantasy romance shojo thingy? Truly, not even a clue. It's gonna be a surprise.
A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki Oima Owned: volume 1 Why did I buy the first volume in a straight bully romance series when I hate heterosexual romances and bully romances? I literally don't know. I probably bought this one by mistake or because I needed it to get some kind of gadget (this article is just showing how superficial I am with my money, okay). I am pretty sure I am not going to like it, which is why I have been procrastinating it and which is also why I am finally gonna read it this month, so I can be done with it and never think about my mistakes ever again, thank you very much.
Toilet-bound Hanako-kun by AidaIro Owned: volume 1 Okay, back on a safer territory, I am actually really excited to start this series, because one of my closest friend loves it and I want to know what all the hype is about. I know vaguely what it is about, but I am not really sure how the story is going to be told and I really hope to love it. I have a feeling I will, because I've loved other recommendations by this friend and we buddy read a lot of things which we both love, so my hopes are really high. Moreover, the covers are stunning and I need them in my life, pretty please.
Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge Owned: volume 1-3 Another series I am really excited to start and that I really hope to love (hence why I bought the first three volumes already). It's another 20+ volumes series, so it will take me some time to finish it, if I decide to go on with it, but at least the volumes are cheaper than the average manga these days, so there's that. I have seen a lot of stills of the characters from the anime, which is what I am more interested in. The design is really beautiful and I hope the story is fun and engaging, because I really want to love this one.
A Witch's Love at the End of the World by Kujira Owned: volumes 1-3 This series was kindly gifted to me in its entirety by the same friend mentioned above (everyone say thank you, Cloud) and we actually plan on buddy reading it. I am going to ask them to marathon it in one day, if she's up to it and we find a good day for the both of us, because it's really short and I am super interested in it. I mean, who wouldn't want a sapphic story about witches in manga format AND in a completed series? I personally can't wait to read it and I hope to love it as much as I love the covers and the character design.
This is all for today, these are all the series on my manga TBR. Let me know if you've read any of them and what you thought of them! I will talk to you soon with a new seasonal book tag.
