A convicted killer is on board the passenger aircraft being flown by Captain Brodie Torrance. Soon after take-off, the aircraft is struck by lightning and comes down on an isolated Philippine island. When Brodie encounters a far more dangerous threat—violent separatists—his problems only start to get worse.
The movie is better than I expected to be. I went into the film, expecting it to have a lot of flaws. But it turned out to be entertaining.
To put into a better perspective, if you've seen Gerard Butler in other movies, you'll know what to expect. It's not the latest blockbuster from Tom Cruise, but it's a fun low budget action movie.
I enjoyed the first half hour of the movie. The moment the Plane gets into turbulence, and has to make an emergency landing, is really frightening. Not the best movie to watch the next time you get on an aircraft.
What disappointed to me about Plane is the bland characters. I only cared about Gerad Butler, I can't hate the guy. Can you? He did great, especially during the first act on the plane. I couldn't care less about the others who were on screen. Mike Colter is fine, but that's it. The rest is very forgettable, and one dimensional.
If you haven't seen your dad in a while, take him to watch Plane. He would enjoy it. Especially if he's into action flicks from the 80s, 90s or even the esrly 2000s.
Final Score - 3/5
Plane isn't a perfect movie. It does not have a perfect story, or acting, but it's fun and cheesy. If you have nothing to do this weekend, you should give it a go. Until next time, stay caffeinated!
