If I have not mentioned it previously then I shall start by saying that I have taken early retirement and that I am no longer constrained by a fulltime job, so, more time to write then! Actually, the answer is both yes and no. My writing will be getting more time but it will still be rationed. However, as the increase in free time is real, I plan to use it as efficiently as possible.
This is going to have an obvious impact on my latest book, Pomerania. I have frequently complained that I could write more if I had more time, so now is the moment to step up to the crease and prove it. As I have said previously, the book is not particularly organised, certainly not in comparison to my previous works. I honestly think that this is necessary to the type of novel that I am writing. It is intended to be a whimsical fantasy that is based to a large extent on my life experience. Despite wandering into some dark and shady places the central theme is positive being based on my optimism, which has gotten me through life to date. The greatest mystery to me is ending up marrying the woman of my dreams! Apparently, I was kind to her and brought laughter into her life at a time when she really needed just that. This is going to be reflected in the book as the relationship between Charlie, the protagonist, and the Lonely Girl, his love interest, grows.
One of the first things that I am going to do is get this project organised. It kind of is but is not at the same time. I intend to create folders on my storage unit that better reflect the way I usually work; I simply have not had the time to do this so far. Obviously, that is no longer a justification. I will then allot a minimum amount of time to the writing per day. I will not be too strict; I do like a little spontaneity every now and then. The fact is that when I get into the writing I often lose myself and all track of time, which is why I am going with a minimum only. If things go the way I plan then this book could be published later this year.
