Happy Weekend, everyone!
Even if one doesn't work at "9 to 5" Monday to Friday, there is something great about Saturday. In my world, there is particularly something wonderful about being able to get to the Dunster Market.
Today is the last day of that Farmer's Market. It really marks the end of a season, last of summer. Dunsterites have a "winter market" later, indoors, and that is a great visiting and lunchtime every week too.
Many of us are trying to get the last of the vegetable garden dealt with. Gary and I keep planting less for ourselves but just as much garlic to sell. I only have potatoes left to dig.
I wish I had the time, ambition and skill to get the entire plot cleaned up before Gary comes back from Winnipeg. Even in my state of being semi-retired, I am not getting everything done.
I'm still in the Pet Hostel game for now. At least one dear dog is arriving today and another going home. I tell people that my "end date" is November 1st, though I will still accept the frightened dogs who run away from home in the thunderstorms or are otherwise lost. And shhh … the pets of a few close friends.
Considering that I thought I might shut everything down right after the Robson Valley Music Festival early in August, and it felt like my heart might shut down during all of August, I'm doing well!
The heaviness in my chest is almost gone and I'm rarely short of breath. This is lovely and not surprising, since I'm not pushing or exerting myself very much. On the other hand, I'm told that the cardiologist will be miffed if I cancel any of the scheduled tests or fail to follow some recommendations! I'll be obedient, for once.
The family doctor put me on a cholesterol-busting pill, just one at night. I was warned that a side effect could be muscle ache. Oh, great.
The second night I took the drug, my shoulders ached, and I had a vivid dream of my arms falling off when I rolled over in the night. I got up and took ibuprofen (with my arms intact). I know that painkillers also have side effects. Name yer poison! None of us is getting younger.
Must get out and care for the pets and get stuff done. Lemmy has been barking intermittently since 5 am., and though he's not hungry, I will give him a dog-safe bone (it's allowed by owner). He'll probably think it's a reward, but it will keep him busy.
