4 ways of making your outdoor space more private.

This is a collaborative post.

Do you feel as though your outdoor space isn't as private as it could be? Maybe you want to make a change but don't quite know how to get started. Either way, this guide will show you what steps you can take to achieve the look you're going for.

Privacy Panels

Privacy panels are great because they allow you to keep your outdoor space nice and secure. They also help to give you a layer of privacy when you want to have a bit of downtime. You can make your pathway weave around your privacy panels too, if you want to provide an adequate walkway for your guests. When it comes to privacy panels, there is a fine line between making your space look private and being enclosed, so try and find that happy medium where possible. Looking online at other people's gardens is a great way for you to find out how many you need. If you want something a little more secure then you can always look into boundary fencing.

Be Strategic

Another thing you need to do is be strategic with plants. If you can make sure that you have a strategic row of planters that are filled with fluffy grasses along the top level of the fence then this will help to give you a lot of privacy. You may even find that it enhances your space too, which is great, to say the least. You can also cover your fences with greenery if it has some gaps. Fences are a very good way for you to make your garden more private, but at the same time, you don't want to overlook the power of trees, shrubs, hedges and vines.

Shade Sails

If your next-door neighbour can look down and into your backyard then you may want to invest in a shade sail. The best thing about this is that it will help to protect you from harsh sun rays. You can also add an outdoor dining area underneath yours if you want to take advantage of the extra privacy. The great thing about doing this is that it makes your shade sail look purposeful, and it also makes it easier for you to unwind.

Pop-up Canopy

Add privacy to your backyard or your dining space by investing in a pop-up canopy. Curtains can be tied back and on top of this, you can have them closed completely if you want. On top of this, you can take advantage of extra privacy whenever you want it. If you have never thought about a pop-up canopy before then you should know that they are very easy to come by, and on top of this, they're super affordable too. If you want to make sure that you get the overall feel you're looking for then give some thought to gazebos as well as awnings. The one you opt for will ultimately depend on your home, but either way, you are never really short on options so keep that in mind.

Until next time.
