Last week both dogs got to take their annual trip to the vet. It is literally one of Princess Peach's favorite places to go. She gets so excited as we pull up into the parking lot. It's adorable but her enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming. Both dogs had great check ups, Princess Peach's skin looks great, they're heartworm negative, and overall doing really well.
Titan does have some cloudiness in his eye now. I worry about him because he's only got the one, but the vet said it's pretty typical cloudiness for a dog his age (he turns 10 on Monday!). She felt confident that he can still see all normal things, but if he were a human he would need reading glasses. We did discuss his anxiety and potential hearing loss. Since they don't have the headphones that help test for hearing loss, we went with process of elimination and decided to treat for anxiety. She prescribed him trazadone for his anxiety on an as-needed basis. She advised that if we didn't notice a difference then his additional awareness is due to hearing loss, but if we did notice a difference then we have a solution. The trazadone has worked a complete miracle for him, especially in the storms. It's funny to see a drug that drove my horse crazy actually worked really well for my dog.
Other than treatment for Titan's anxiety, it was a fairly uneventful trip to the vet. Bowser goes in the summer, and Willy should have his annuals in April. He leaves for full board training this coming week, and we just had a clinic lesson yesterday that I will fill you all in soon, but it's tough because I can't execute anything we've learned yet, but I certainly did learn a lot.
While Willy is in full-board training, I am hoping I will have a little more time to write for the blog. He will be doing lots of fun things so hopefully I will be able to get out there and catch some of his activities. I will also have some travel plans this month as well. I am currently pet-sitting at one of my long standing client's house. Her little puppy is smaller than bowser and loves to nap, so you can say I am already living my best life.
Again, if you all have any topics you want me to cover in the future, please let me know!
