In loving memory of Azucar, our cherished canine companion, who left us peacefully on June 15, 2024. Azucar entered our lives on a serendipitous day in February 2012 when my wife and I found her at the SPCA. At seven years old, she quickly became our first baby together, and looking back, it's clear that while we thought we were rescuing her, she was truly rescuing us.
Azucar was a DIVA in every sense of the word, tough yet tender, and she filled our home with an immeasurable amount of love and joy. Her presence graced our lives for 13 beautiful years, a time filled with countless memories and shared moments that we will forever cherish. Her absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply, from the silence of her nails on the apartment floor to the empty spot where she loved to be petted.
Her health declined swiftly over the course of a week, and though we had plans to visit the vet on Friday, June 14, time did not allow. Saturday morning was a day like any other; I carried her down the stairs for her morning walk. She stood there, basking in the sun and savoring the feel of the grass beneath her paws. When she looked at me, it was as if she was telling me she was ready to go back home. I carried her back upstairs, gave her water, and a small breakfast. She had a little visit that left her tired, so I let her rest in the living room. I stepped out for a short business lunch, and when I returned, she had quietly passed away.
The suddenness of her departure has left us heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing she is no longer in pain and has reunited with her brothers. Azucar, our sweet sugar bear, your passing closes a cherished chapter of our lives. We will miss you dearly and remember you always.
Rest in peace, Azucar. You will forever be in our hearts. ♥️🐾
