Good afternoon, folks! I have a quickie for you today, no introduction just poem. Enjoy!
"Fault-Lies", June 1, 2024.
Suddenly that solid ground
Can abruptly cease to be
Swirling atoms come unbound
Limited options to flee
Concrete blocks now wind-blown sand
Choking life of fragile frame
Feebly clinging by one hand
Swing gaze round to much the same
Landslide's swell forms minute peak
Petitioning the lost cause
Trembling hurt, wistfully weak
No succour of rest or pause
Hurtling out across chasm
Faith alone maintains our stride
Shredded muscles locked spasm
Us and abyssal divide
Memories flashing mid-flight
Golden triumph, guilt entwined
Regret, burdens, scars and blight
Take over from life refined
ersatz glide swiftly concludes
Senses rent, cratered impact
Cogency and sense eludes
Brain and body not intact
Pulled from wreckage hours on
Limp and bloodied carcass bare
Just another shattered pawn
Garrotted steel-silent prayer.
No introduction and no summary. Class is cancelled today, please do your readings independently.
I will say, I'm very fond of some of the lines in this piece. They just read and scan quite wonderfully. It's nice to like something you create. Not always the case. Just ask Frankenstein. Side note: that book goes so much harder than I remembered. If you haven't and you enjoy the genre read it, fantastic.
Thank you so much for reading and please enjoy the most blessed of blessed days. Puppies, ice cream, true love, cool birds, whatever.
Happy Trails and Waggy Tales!
