End of an era, or at least another step:
This is going to require more landscaping,
certainly of a different kind.
Gary and I worked well together yesterday to disassemble the chainlink dog run in the front yard. 💪 We still have a few kennels out behind "the building".
It seems surreal, and yet I don't feel regret.
You can imagine that some of this is heavy work. Over the years, I've added concrete sidewalk blocks, stepping stones, huge rocks and have even poured concrete in place to ensure dogs don't dig out. For the most part, dogs seemed happy here, but not always accustomed to being fenced in. All the barriers were insurance or assurance that we would keep a pet safe.
Gary chuckled as he unfastened my ladder trellis from the top of the large kennel, calling me "the zip tie queen". I had chains and other devices to make sure those ladders never came loose. 😀 "How did you even get this fastened??", he asked.
All this kind of work ensures I don't have much idle time (or extra energy) in my so-called retirement; you'd be surprised how many folks wonder what I do with my days.
I did go back to fixing stuff, sorting photos, and housework/kennel building cleaning after lunch. I didn't get back to the "heavy lifting", but that can wait a bit.
Today, I'll do some running around, delivering a few things, shopping maybe, taking items to the swap shed … motley tasks.
Although I felt a wreck by dinner time last night, I had accomplished more than I expected. All day I'd felt young, which seems like a gift.
I hope you are well and feel younger than your years today, or that things get better.
Love, Ann
