Yesterday was the biggest push to get to Saskatoon from home: almost exactly twelve hours with a short picnic lunch and even quicker Vietnamese dinner. Also fuel and other "pit" stops.
The car is comfortable and we learned new features about it on this sort of long maiden voyage.
Today's destination is a mere 8 hours away! Gary has made the trip so many times that he knows most of the best places to stop for anything. However, this time I could help with the driving.
We drove very close to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where I was born a few years ago. 😉 There is no one left alive who knows anyone that knew my relatives. It's okay.
We whizzed by at least five roadside antique shops, also several garden centres. There might be some opportunity to shop for a cutlery box or a hosta, but we are in a hurry to get to the beach and relax! Oh, yes, and see family and eat lots.
Neither of us were inclined to take photos of the scenery, but the changing terrain is great: rolling hills, sloughs and lakes, farms, farm animals. We didn't see much wildlife, but I dodged a grouse, a rabbit and three prairie gophers. We saw seagulls overhead (seems remarkable this far inland), and ran over one already-dead raccoon (only notable because there are no raccoons where we live).
That's a wrap for us for yesterday. I might need to poach some photos via Google.
Talk to you later!
Love, Ann
