It is a cnidarian. An invertebrate is a soft-bodied animal with no bones. The Pacific Moon Jellyfish is translucent (see-through) with a 16-scalloped umbrella-shaped bell (or dome), which means that the bell indents inwards at 16 points. It has four horseshoe-shaped gonads (reproductive organs) in the top of its bell. The bell pulsates, which enables it to move through the water. It also conserves energy by drifting with the ocean currents and tides. It does not have gills or lungs to breathe. It gets its oxygen from the water by diffusion through the membranes that cover its body (like skin). It has long tentacles. | | | |
