Last night I was hoping it was bedtime when it was 8 am.. I did get to bed by 10, and was asleep when my cellphone rang.
Some friends from McBride had picked up a dog on their way home from Prince George. They knew who he was, and I also realized he was a dog missing from the area for two whole weeks.
Skinny and scared… it was Boomer!!
It had taken our friends more than an hour to convince this young dog to get into their car. Hurray for their patience!
I didn't realize that Facebook was abuzz with this development, but I had already discussed the missing dog with Shelly and said I'd take him in if he was found.
The rightful owner was known and home, but his phone was in his truck. A neighbour of his out in Dunster jumped in his car, went and grabbed his surprised human friend, so the got to our house in a very short time.
It was a joyful reunion. When the young men asked if I had been sleeping, I quipped, "Yes, but this is better!"
I didn't get a good shot, but this is used with permission.
I got back to bed before 11, but because of my shoulder, I didn't rest well.
Today, I'm taking the car for its regular oil change and checkup. I'm not worried about fires right now.
Even though fires are still being fought, we are okay. The town of Jasper will never be the same, and I worry about people everywhere.
I'm certainly okay with playing hooky for the day, away from harvesting and even the television.
