Danny passed away on 8-4-24 @ 09:30 hrs. from complications while recovering from his recent surgery. He was a seven-week-old male kitten who was estimated to be born on 6-12-24. On 7-26-24, we found him injured and abandoned at a local car wash in Pasadena, Texas. We think his injury occurred during the clean-up efforts from Hurricane Beryl. Our veterinarian performed a radiograph and determined that his front right leg was severely fractured and dislocated. Also, the area around the fracture became infected and an abscess formed. Despite treatment with antibiotics the veterinarian recommended that the leg be amputated. However, the amputation couldn't be performed there until 8-1-24. When his health declined further, we took him to Gulf Coast Veterinarians Specialist in Houston, Texas. The surgery to amputate his leg was performed on 7-30-24. Since then, it has been a roller coaster ride for us all. He battled pain from surgery, Anemia, low calorie food intake, low body temperature, and nasal blockages making it difficult for him to breath due to Calicivirus. He was administered four blood transfusions, antibiotics, pain meds, and IV fluids. Towards the end he was placed inside an incubator box and had an Esophagostomy tube inserted into the side of his neck. Despite these efforts, his little body just couldn't catch up. He had a strong will to live and fought harder than any heavyweight. He won the hearts of family, friends, and the wonderful staff who cared for him. He will be missed. Also, thank you to all who donated to his fund. Every little bit helped us. St. Francis of Assisi The following Go Fund Me and Facebook pages were created to help generate donations. All proceeds went to the cost of Danny's exams, testing, treatment, surgery, and recovery.
