I finally made it to Famiglia Baldasarre, a pasta shop that does lunch service Wednesday to Friday from 12pm to 2pm.
Lunch service is first come, first serve basis, and it probably sits about 10 people inside. So with a limited lunch service, it is not often one can make it, especially with work.
So I took a work-life balance day off and made it a mission to go to Familglia Baldasarre for lunch. Husband took a day off as well and went along with me.
Crudo di Parma ($7) - 18 months parma DOP
When we got to Geary St., we noticed there was already a line up prior to 12pm. When the doors opened, the first 9 or 10 people were seated, so it was probably about a 45 minutes wait until we were able to order. Luckily, we were able to score a table indoors, as we did not want to sit outside (it was humid) and if we ordered take-out, we would need to figure out where to sit.
The lunch menu for pasta changes each day; the pastas on Wednesday will not be on Thursday's menu.
The crudo di parma is probably the best $7 I've spent. I mean, a plate of ham? Give.
Tagliolini al Tocco Genovese ($18) - braised veal ragu
Trofie el Pesto Genovese ($18) - potatoes, green beans, basil and pinenut pesto
All pasta are fresh and so good; really reminds me of our vacation in Italy. It certainly been awhile.
Is it worth the wait? Subjective. I'm happy I took a time off to finally cross this spot off my list, but the wait? I don't know. The pasta was super delish though!
