Iris came into care with Castaway when she and her sister were very young, and it was discovered that both are FIV+. That's not a death sentence anymore, as it was a decade or so ago. Many cats live fine with FIV for their complete lives, but it does make them more susceptible to illnesses that come along. So FIV+ cats should live indoors with regular vet care, but they can live fine even with other cats as long as they get along together. (FIV is passed mainly through deep bites, not casual contact.) Iris, unfortunately, has had a high fever for 2 or more days, is lethargic, and not eating, so after a vet visit late yesterday she was transferred to me for care for the time being. She got fluids, antibiotics, and anti-nausea meds yesterday but it didn't really accomplish much, so she has another vet visit late this morning. Fevers of 104-105 for days aren't a good thing, so she needs some more help today. Stay tuned...hope we can help this little girl. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
