What a day yesterday was! And all good.
I put an ad in Facebook Buy & Sell about having peonies that needed dividing. Just enough folks responded and got their treasured perennial.
When they thanked me, I thanked them for doing the digging!
I also sold a 'Le Crueset' pan, a doghouse, garlic, and some canning jars. I had been thinking of hosting a yard sale but am still not sure I'd have the energy or hours.
Everyone seemed so happy and they showed up!
There is still some harvesting to do, but it's the early days of autumn. Right? I cooked and froze the last of the beets, dug carrots and potatoes for a couple of weeks ahead.
I got truly wild and felled a number of the sunflowers that were shading the corn and the rest of the garden. They went so fast from tiny sprouts the thickness of spaghetti, needing staking, to blooming plants on steroids (so it seemed).
Now the area is more accessible to be rototilled, but oh! The roots were massive too. My lesson is to keep the 'Russian Mammoth' sunflowers to a minimum, and to the outside edges of the vegetable garden. Or a flower bed. 🤷🏼♀️
So I did some of this and some of that, as usual. The difference this year, being almost retired, is that I can often stay with a task until it's done, or until I'm too tired.
Gary said that he is concerned about me so often going to bed at 9 or 10 pm., and I gently reminded him that I've been getting up at dawn.
A tasty and nutritious product
